An underground complex within Mount Anamorinda, the tallest peak of the Great Barrier Mountains (32,000 ft). It contains a Dwarven city of 600,000 as well as the remains of a Technological Age complex. Bogron--Cult of Vyxana Leader of the Sacred Age--is also present somewhere in a secret compound with his support staff, although he is now Undying. The entrances to Anamorinda are carefully concealed and/or guarded. Bogron employs over 100 Bulks in his staff, and he also spawns the 15 feet tall Behemoth monsters.

A Core Civilization nation dating to early in the Sacred Age, Analomaa is known for its fine furniture and is the third oldest nation in the Core behind Daramos and Farzal. With a population of 3.1 million humans, it is a land bordered by the Great Barrier Mountains on the east, the East Veinous River on the north, the South Veinous River on the west and part of the south, and the Onuba River on the south. Its capital is Analomaa City only five nms from Civilization Falls on the East Veinous River. The independent City-State of Faston is within the borders of this realm.

Located on the southwest bank where the West Veinous River flows into the North Veinous River, Almudra is a city at the northeast corner of the Farzal nation. Its population of 600,000 is mostly human with 2% Mutats and 1% Elon. The city is known for its news taverns such as the Frontier Frothery known for its Frothery Grog.

Most of Talan’s coastline has a Serpentless Shelf shallower than 40 fathoms; however, there are exceptions, such as the Deep Sound and the Abysmal Sea. The Abysmal Sea starts on the northern coast of the Empire of Zandalor east of Swordland’s Cross Guard and covers all the waters to the north except for the Serpentless Shelf along West-Realm’s south coast. Those shallows terminate at Peaceport, with all the waters to the east being deeper than 40 fathoms. Thus it is almost impossible for sailing ships to navigate without coming under attack from the Sea Serpents on the coastlines of the Abysmal Sea.

The famed Chute, which is a narrow Serpentless Shelf, is at the outlet of the River, and the westward current here is very swift. While the range is fairly small, the peaks are very high with perpetual snow lines. This makes the Aamautho River very cold entering the Chute, and it often causes a fog bank at the river outlet.

The westernmost nation of the Core Civilizations, Aamautho is bounded on the north by Banzel Bay, the east by Serpents’ Gulf, the south by Rugal, and the east by Balavia. The City-State Zekslo is at the nation’s southeastern extremity on the coast. The capital of Aamautho is Skadro on the easternmost extremity of the nation. With a population almost entirely human, Aamautho is a monarchy of 2.9 million with two seats on the Great Council of Civilized Countries. Aamautho has several precious metal mines and exports precious metals. The nation is also famous for the Chute, the narrow shelf approaching the Aamautho River from the east which is often fogged over from the cold river that descends out of the Aamautho Mountains. The realm also raises and trains Talan’s only flying beetle Korpal Mounts.

Largest nation in the West, West-Realm occupies all land north of the Mountains of Evil and the Empire all the way to the Ice Ocean to the north, to the Endless Ocean on the west, and to the Beltland and Serpents’ Gulf to the east. Late in the first millenium, however, the Empire conquered the Province of Fahor wherein lie the independent underground Dwarven Kingdom of Fahor in the Fahor Mountains. It also includes the subjugated realm of Walanar, once an independent nation of the Walanari Elon. After the conquering of Walanar, West-Realm had a total of 12 Provinces, and Wedroth is its capital. West-Realm is closely allied with Swordland that branches off the southwestern tip of Talan. West-Realm is the home of the Realmers, humans whom King Mendanarron rules. During the Sacred Age, the humans that became the Realmers were the Winged Horsemen who fought the Cult of Vyxana. They often intermingled with Elon and Elwen, causing much longer lifespans than most humans. Once they fled west during the Second Exodus, the Royal Family and the Lords and Ladies of the First through Fifth Tables (where the higher Tables are more distant relations to the Royal Family) have taken Elwen Companions from Walanar on several occasions throughout the Realm’s over 9000 year history such that they can live up to 300 years. Even the non-Tabled citizens of West-Realm commonly live longer than 100 years and even up to 150 years. West-Realm has been at open war with the Empire of Zandalor throughout its history, although there is the Apocalypse Treaty in place at the time of Jess’ escape from slavery. When West-Realm was established in the Age of Dooms, Prophecy held that the Realm would one day span the entire extent of the West Veinous River. At the time of the story, however, West-Realm did not extend east past the Beltland.

Common name for the Empire of Zandalor, ruled by the Emperor. It includes the Gauntlers of the Mountains of Evil, the Warlocks of the Cliffs, the Luved Nation of Seborgians, the human realm of Zandar, and the Western Mutat Nations. In the First Millennium, the Empire conquered the West-Realm province of Fahor and the Lower Outposts at the bottom of the Warlock Cliffs. By the time of our story, the Empire had also conquered the Upper Outposts along the top of the Warlock Cliffs. The only area within the geographical bounds of the Empire not controlled by the Emperor is the city of Mutaron, which still remains a neutral Mutat city.

Depending upon the context, either the name of the race of humanoids that have pointed earlobes and pointed ear helix (eartop) or a male member of the Solon race. The Solon race originated as the offspring of the Eldest, who were 30 angels the Creator sent to Talan to help guide humanity back from the brink of destruction. Also called the Sacred Race, they are very similar in appearance to the Elon except they have silver hair. Unlike Elon, the Solon do not experience the Calling and spend their entire lives on Talan. They were the primary race in the Sacred Realm. They have the same immunities as Elon.

A Mage who employs the Skill Discipline of Evocation, which is the magic of energy and the summoning of energetic matter, such as Ice Sickles, Lightning Bolts, and Fireballls.

A Mage who employs the Skill Discipline of Chronomancy or Temporal Magic.

The third and current Age of Talan, the Age of Dooms began when the Divine Consortium pronounced the 18 Dooms and will transition to the Age of Chaos or the Promised Age depending upon whether the Journeyman succeeds in Sealing all the Dooms. If any Doom instead experiences the associated Apocalypse rather than the Fulfillment necessary to Seal the Doom, the Age of Dooms will immediately transition to the Age of Chaos. Our story begins in the 9,041st year of the Age of Dooms.
